Club Philosophy

The Charleswood Ski Club encourages people of all ages to appreciate outdoor activities throughout the year. Recreational skiers of all abilities are welcome, and individual memberships are available to all.

General information

  • To participate in these events you must be a Charleswood Ski Club member in good standing.
  • Members may bring guests to all social events (except Hill, Skill and Food Fill) and one day trip.
  • Trips may be cancelled if insufficient registrations are received by the registration deadline.
  • All events are NON smoking. No dogs allowed

   Day Ski Trips  
  • Full day and half day ski trips are offered every weekend of the ski season. They are advertised in our Winter Schedule and in Meetup starting in November.
  • Members must register for all day trips through our Charleswood Ski Club Meetup site or by contacting the trip leader. The leader provides the details of the trip: when and where the meeting place is, when we expect to arrive and leave the venue, etc. The meeting time and place is usually mid-late-morning at a location inside the perimeter where there's easy parking and toilet facilities indoors (where carpooling is discussed).

    • Ski Location: Falcon Ridge is located in Whiteshell Provincial Park on the shores of Falcon Lake, Manitoba.

Weekend (and longer) Trips

Policies for weekend and longer trips

  1. Once a group reservation for accommodation has been negotiated by the Club, members are responsible for contacting the hotel to book and pay for their accommodation. The registration deadline and refund policy are determined by the hotel.
  2. Bus and Weekend Trips are open to Charleswood Ski Club members only.
  3. If a trip is fully booked, members may place their name on a waiting list. The trip leader will contact you if a spot becomes available.
  4. Members must register with the trip leader through Meetup or, if they prefer, directly with the Trip Leader.

  Duck Mountain - Madge Lake Retreats  ^ ^ ^
  • Dates: Friday, February 18 to Monday, February 21, 2022 (3 nights on Louis Riel weekend)
  • Accommodation: 6 cabins sleeping 4 and 3 condo’s sleeping 4 booked at Madge Lake Retreats. Located 15 min drive from Kamsack, Sk
  • Accomodation:Madge Lake Retreats  
  • Registration: Contact the trip leader
  • Transportation: Own vehicle. Saskatchewan Provincial Park Pass is required.
  • Ski Location: Ski from your door on the Duck Mountain Cross Country Ski trails. Downhill is also available at the nearby Duck Mountain Ski Area.
  • Trails: Duck Mountain Cross Country Ski trails groomed by the Kamsack Ski Club

  Canmore Week Long  ^ ^ ^
  • Dates: Saturday, February 5 to Saturday, February 12, 2022 (7 nights)
  • Trails: Excellent variety of groomed trails in provincial and federal parks as well as the Nordic Centre in Canmore.
  • Accommodation: Canmore Inn & Suites, Members book their own rooms directly with the hotel at 1-888-678-4656. Members are also free to book their own accommodation in local B and Bs or condos.
  • Cost: Double queen room, 2 queens 550.00 per week plus taxes .
    .....Single occupancy 550.00 per week plus tax ( road side ).
    .....Efficiency King room 1 king bed, hide-a-bed, small kitchenette (rail side) 550.00 per week plus tax.
  • Registration: Deadline is 30 days prior to the arrival date.
  • Anyone who wishes to book after that date will be subject to availability. All members are required to notify the trip coordinator if they are going on the trip by email or Meetup. Members who are not staying at the hotel are required to advise the trip coordinator where they are staying and how they can be contacted during the trip.
  • Cancellation: No penalty for cancellation.
  • Transportation: Skiers’ responsibility. A vehicle is required to reach the majority of the ski trails.
  • Charleswood Ski Club COVID 19 protocols (Document) and Alberta COVID precautions will apply to this trip.
  • Trip Description: X-country and downhill skiing, as well as snowshoeing in the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

    • Cost: $10 per person, cash bar
    • Location: St. James Legion, 1755 Portage Avenue
    • Registration: Pre-registration and payment required. See Registration.
    • Notes: Members may purchase guest tickets to this event. Guests must provide proof of Full Immunization.
      Please also bring food for potluck - your choice.
      Please bring your own plates and utensils if you have some - disposables are at the Legion but we are trying to reduce garbage

Try-Us-Out and Ski Lessons

  • Try Us Out: Come out and join us for a ski event. This is a great opportunity for potential new members to come out and ski with the club and find out what we are all about. See the Contact page for our email address to arrange to try us out!

 

  Hill and Skill  ^ ^ ^
    Hill and Skill is a group ski lesson provided by CANSI certified instructors at Windsor Park Nordic Centre. The lesson is free of charge and included as part of your membership fee. Pre-Register for your lesson in Meetup.
